Michael Thaddeus Samulski

October 27, 1948 — January 27, 2014

Michael T. Samulski, age 65, passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2014. Mike was born in Detroit, the third of five sons born to Edward and Jane Samulski (both deceased). He was raised and lived in East Detroit, Michigan, for 41 years. Mike graduated from East Detroit High School and got his B.A. in Sociology at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. Sgt. Michael “Shammer” Samulski served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1970 and was awarded many medals and an Honorable Discharge. After the war, he worked as a Clerk at Wayne County Probate Court in Detroit, then as a Juvenile Court Officer for the Wayne County Juvenile Court. He later worked as a Child Abuse Investigator for the State of Michigan - Department of Social Services. Lastly, he worked as a Clerk for the Internal Revenue Service. Mike retired and moved to Chula Vista, CA, where he lived for over 23 years. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, VFW, and DAV. He recently moved to Yorba Linda, CA, to be closer to family. He enjoyed travel, cruises, music, art, reading, and playing at casinos. His favorite place to be was the San Diego area. Loving father of Joanne (David) Le Cocq and Eva Samulski. Doting and proud grandfather of Frank and Evan Le Cocq. Brother of Gerard, Edward (deceased) (Jane), Frank, and David (Linda).
